New Features
  • ASME Section VIII, Division 2 calculations will start are being rolled out over the next several releases.
  • Rated Flanges are now an option for Division 2 vessels.  The weld details options still refer to Section VIII, Division 1 UW-21.  DC-94

Issues Resolved

  • Resolved an issue where the UG-32(j) check was based off of inside diameter instead when the user selected to input the head ID instead of OD.  DC-1012
  • Resolved an issue where the warning popup that occurs for the UG-32(j) check was appearing multiple times, this was reduced to one time for most cases.  DC-1345
  • Resolved an issue where the Division 2 cylinder internal pressure math was returning incorrect results in some cases.  This only occurred in the release candidate 2017.2.  DC-1344, DC-1348
  • Resolved an issue where DesignCalcs would not wait long enough for the FEPipe engine to launch from the nozzle form.  This only occurred in the release candidate 2017.2.  DC-1363

Miscellaneous

  • Updated some of the controls in the studded outlet form.  DC-846

Release Notes DC 2017.2 (Release Candidate)

 

New Features

  • ASME Section VIII, Division 2 calculations will start are being rolled out over the next several releases.  
  • Section VIII, Division 2 calculations for hemispherical heads under internal pressure was added.  DC-948
  • NozzlePRO integration:  DesignCalcs can now launch a NozzlePRO analysis for users of the Paulin Research Group product.  This initial release allows a user to spawn a NozzlePRO analysis from within the nozzle form and is limited to pressure only loads.  The analysis can only be performed on nozzles attached by full penetration welds and not using the custom developed opening setting. The user can set the FE/Pipe exe path under a new tools menu.  DC-1173
  • Tubesheet 2017 Code Change:  All three tubesheet types now have a new temperature, Tfe, that represents the temperature for the flanged extension.  The Tfe value sets the new allowable stress, Sfe, for the flanged extension.  Sfe is based on the tubesheet material.  This change was introduced in the 2017 code in Part UHX; but the software will allow you to take advantage of the change for all supported code years (2010 - 2017).  When a vessel is created or patched from an older version, the Tfe value will be set to the Tts value.  This will mean that any patched vessels will have an identical hr calculation (UHX-9) until Tfe is altered.  Tfe only exists on the conditions grid.   • Rated Flange Slip On and Socket Weld detail requirements have been added.  All new designs will have the setting to perform these calculations checked by default.  All data created in previous versions of DesignCalcs will have the setting to perform these calculations unchecked by default.  These calculations are per UW-21 of Section VIII, Division 1.  Slip On flanges will default to figure UW-21 sketch 1.  Socket Weld flanges will default to sketch 4, which is the only option.  The thub value, used to determine the requirements for the outer hub to host fillet leg, will default to 1/2(hub diameter - bore).  Since there can be some variability in these dimensions, the field can be updated and then the requirements will update as well.  DC-551

  • There were multiple changes, additions, and deletions made to allowable stress lines, yield lines, and ultimate stress lines to cover both the 2017 Customary and Metric versions of Section II, D.  These included tables 1A, 1B, 3, U, and Y-1.  New relationships were made between the allowable, yield, and ultimate lines.  New relationships were made between the Customary and Metric allowable stress lines.  New materials were determined to need seamless equivalents and new seamless equivalent matches were determined.  DC-952

  • Corrected an issue that sometimes showed a false failing message for UG-45 nozzle calculations in the report.  The problem was in the pipe min wall calculation, the result was truncated in certain cases instead of rounded for the displayed message.  DC-1003

  • Several materials had inconsistent spacing in their nominal compositions for "1Cr - 1/2 Mo", "1Cr - 1Mn - 1/4 Mo", "2 1/4Cr - 1Mo" to "2 1/4 Cr - 1Mo".  This has been standardized.  DC-1197
  • Standardized the product form for "Condenser tube, Heat exchnager tube".  Some places had it as "...tubes,...tubes".  DC-1200

  • Section VIII, Division 2 calculations for hemispherical heads under internal pressure was added.  DC-948
  • NozzlePRO integration:  DesignCalcs can now launch a NozzlePRO analysis for users of the Paulin Research Group product.  This initial release allows a user to spawn a NozzlePRO analysis from within the nozzle form and is limited to pressure only loads.  The analysis can only be performed on nozzles attached by full penetration welds and not using the custom developed opening setting. The user can set the FE/Pipe exe path under a new tools menu.  DC-1173
  • Tubesheet 2017 Code Change:  All three tubesheet types now have a new temperature, Tfe, that represents the temperature for the flanged extension.  The Tfe value sets the new allowable stress, Sfe, for the flanged extension.  Sfe is based on the tubesheet material.  This change was introduced in the 2017 code in Part UHX; but the software will allow you to take advantage of the change for all supported code years (2010 - 2017).  When a vessel is created or patched from an older version, the Tfe value will be set to the Tts value.  This will mean that any patched vessels will have an identical hr calculation (UHX-9) until Tfe is altered.  Tfe only exists on the conditions grid.   • Section VIII, Division 2 calculations for hemispherical heads under internal pressure was added.  DC-948
  • NozzlePRO integration:  DesignCalcs can now launch a NozzlePRO analysis for users of the Paulin Research Group product.  This initial release allows a user to spawn a NozzlePRO analysis from within the nozzle form and is limited to pressure only loads.  The analysis can only be performed on nozzles attached by full penetration welds and not using the custom developed opening setting. The user can set the FE/Pipe exe path under a new tools menu.  DC-1173
  • Tubesheet 2017 Code Change:  All three tubesheet types now have a new temperature, Tfe, that represents the temperature for the flanged extension.  The Tfe value sets the new allowable stress, Sfe, for the flanged extension.  Sfe is based on the tubesheet material.  This change was introduced in the 2017 code in Part UHX; but the software will allow you to take advantage of the change for all supported code years (2010 - 2017).  When a vessel is created or patched from an older version, the Tfe value will be set to the Tts value.  This will mean that any patched vessels will have an identical hr calculation (UHX-9) until Tfe is altered.  Tfe only exists on the conditions grid.
